What to know in advance

The final kilometres are a mountain serpentine with weather restrictions. In winter and after rain only all-wheel-drive vehicles are allowed; on some days the climb is closed entirely. The dispatcher checks conditions on the morning of departure and, if a restriction applies, offers to move the trip.

The area above the lake is a border zone: a permit may be required to continue to the observatory and the pass. If one is needed we flag it at booking — processing takes several days.

How long the trip takes

The standard programme is four to five hours: the drive up, an hour and a half to two hours at the lake, the drive back. That is enough for photographs and an unhurried walk along the shore.

At 2,500 metres it is markedly colder than in the city — the difference can reach fifteen degrees. Bring a jacket even in summer; the chauffeur will remind you at pick-up.

Can I book a trip outside Almaty?

Yes — we operate across Kazakhstan and on the Almaty–Bishkek route. Popular destinations include Charyn Canyon, the Kolsai Lakes, Kaindy, Shymbulak, Big Almaty Lake, Taldykorgan and Astana. The price is fixed by route in advance.

Which car should I choose?

Meetings where the car is seen, and trips for two or three — the S-Class. A family or group of up to six, heavy luggage or skis — the V-Class. More than six people — the Sprinter. If in doubt, describe the job to the dispatcher.

Can the price change after the trip?

No. The figure is confirmed before departure and fixed. Traffic, a delayed flight or a detour do not change it. It is recalculated only if you add stops or extend the time yourself — and we tell you before that happens.

How far in advance should I book?

A standard city transfer can be with you in 15–30 minutes if a car is free. Airport meets and requests for a specific car are best booked a day ahead; the S-Class and minibuses two to three days ahead. Events, delegations and long-distance routes need at least a week.
